Amazon invests billions in Poland

ostwirtschaft.de · April 27, 2026
Amazon plans to invest at least 23 billion zlotys, the equivalent of around 5.4 billion euros, in Poland by 2028. The US company intends to further expand its position in one of the most competitive e-commerce markets in Europe, reported Puls Biznesu on April 22. The company is focusing on a broader presence in logistics, technology and digital services. Poland remains an important market for Amazon because online retail is continuing to grow strongly there and both local platforms and international providers are competing for market share. Expansion of logistics One focus of the new investments is on the logistics infrastructure. Amazon plans to open a new logistics center with an area of 200,000 square meters in Dobromierz in 2026. The facility is set to create more than 1,000 jobs in its first year of operation and will be equipped with modern robotics technology. The expansion is in line with growth expectations in European online retail. The value of the e-commerce market in Europe is expected to rise from around 600 billion euros to around 770 billion euros in the coming years. According to Puls Biznesu, online sales in Poland could reach almost 200 billion zlotys a year. Poland as an important Amazon location Amazon already has a strong presence in Poland. Since 2012, the company has invested more than 45 billion zlotys there and created around 19,000 jobs. The country now plays an important role in the company's European operating network. In addition to logistics and retail, Amazon is also expanding its digital offerings. Prime Video is increasingly investing in local productions. According to Puls Biznesu, one of the planned projects is a series about former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and his family. With the new investments, Amazon wants to strengthen its position in Poland in the long term - in a market that continues to grow, but is also becoming increasingly competitive.
