Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover amounted to 5.8 billion US dollars in January. This corresponds to an increase of 1.32 billion US dollars or 29.2 percent compared to the previous year, according to the National Statistics Committee. Exports increased by 26.7 percent to 1.69 billion US dollars. The growth was mainly driven by higher exports of industrial products, food, chemical products and services. Imports rose even more strongly - by 30.3 percent to 4.14 billion US dollars. As a result, the trade deficit widened to 2.44 billion US dollars. China remained the most important partner with a trade volume of 1.62 billion US dollars and accounted for 27.9 percent of total foreign trade. Trade with Russia also increased significantly.
